1. Fun evening with my special someone

Today is the first “official” work day for high school teachers in my district.  I say “official” because I have been working what seems like non-stop for the past 10 days to get my new classroom and new lab set up in our fabulous new building.  But, who’s counting, right?  True to my inner-nerd, I am extremely excited and woke up an hour before my alarm was set.  I love the beginning of a new school year for several reasons:

1) I love buying new school supplies.

2) I love the people I work with — wonderful folks who make me laugh, give hugs, and genuinely care about me and my daughter.

3) I love teaching kids, especially about the awesome world of biology.

4) I love that everything is brand new in our amazing new facility.

I am looking forward to a GREAT year!
